I am not a travel expert.
I am someone who made most of the mistakes this site warns you about, learned from every single one of them, and decided that the most useful thing I could do with that education was write it down honestly so someone else would not have to learn it the same way.
I have paid the wrong taxi driver the wrong price in the wrong city. I have booked accommodation that looked nothing like the photos. I have stood in a foreign airport at midnight with a dead phone, a cancelled reservation, and no idea what to do next. I have over-planned trips that felt like work and under-planned ones that turned into the best weeks of my life.
What I know about travel I did not learn from other travel blogs. I learned it from showing up somewhere unprepared, figuring it out, and writing down what I wished someone had told me before I left.
That is the only qualification this site has ever claimed. Not expertise. Honesty.
If something on this site has helped you plan a better trip, travel safer, or simply feel less terrified about doing something you have never done before, then it has done exactly what it was built to do.
Safe travels.
